  1. man, the stadium was packed with a lot of japanese people because of the bobblehead. i've already seen one for sale on facebook in one of the marketplaces. they were asking $60 for it. "Man, I haven't seen this many Japanese people in one place in California since the days of Manzanar." -calscuf
  2. according to baseball reference dot com, he's never played a single game at 1B in his professional career. please, anyone tempted to say stuff like "he should play 1B for a game or two", please stop.
  3. i was at the game and never heard an update on him. so his arm was okay? i was also at the game tuesday night when richards went down. was starting to wonder that if it happened again tonight, maybe i need to change my routine or something. btw, i bought a new hat at tuesday's game. the halos have gone out and scored 9 and 11 runs in the two games i attended this week. i give all the credit to the new hat.
  4. surprising things in this thread: degrom is 30 already. kluber is 32 (!)
  5. after the game, my daughter and i made our way to the fox sports post-game tv recap. my purpose was to meet tim salmon and see how i could get him to come to my school to talk to the kids. we waited around for about 15 minutes and when he finished, the tv crowd just disappeared but a few people were getting his autograph. i made my way there quickly and asked him how i could contact him to come to my school and talk to the kids. he said he doesn't do that anymore. asked if we could take a picture and he said yes. while i'm disappointed i can't get him to my school, i was pretty thrilled to meet him and take a picture (it's on my facebook page now). he was such a near-perfect player and one of my all-time favorites.
  6. if they take 2 of 3 from the doggies this weekend, they'll be at 50 wins going into the break. i'd be happy with that, all things considered.
  7. good catch, doc. he made a really nice transition going to his left on a grounder in the 8th or 9th inning that could have been a whole bunch of trouble, but he fielded it cleanly and made an excellent throw against his momentum.
  8. he lowered his era from 10.13 to 8.68 tonight. if he could do that every time he pitches, well that'd be pretty good.
  9. that's where i am. canning seems like a keeper to me.
  10. i just became facebook friends with reichardt. dino ebel, however, dropped me.
  11. looks like he survived auschwitz. barely.
  12. zucchini: i'm pretty bland. tofu: here, hold my beer.
  13. harkens back to the days of abolitionism. the abolitionists worked hard to end slavery, but had almost zero interest in former slaves living near them in their communities.
  14. her run in the last 5-7 years has been historic and remarkable. she should be in the discussion for greatest athlete ever.
  15. interesting point by trout that albert leads the league in hardest hit balls turned into outs.
  16. let's face it . . . since he ditched the mullet, richards just hasn't been the same pitcher. GRich, while you're rehabbing, you and your hair need to do the right thing . . .
  17. this is what he needs! i couldn't find the UCL version, but i'm sure i just didn't look hard enough. looks like they have it available for a couple of different guys.
  18. for the life of me, i don't get sosh's fascination with this player. it's like there's nothing he can do to get pulled from the lineup. here's hoping we see more of fletcher each day, and that valbuena starts growing cobwebs from lack of activity.
  19. last night was the first time i had seen dee gordon in person. wow, he's absolutely tiny. looks like he's about 11 yrs old. before the game he was standing out in center doing his running and trout came over to say howdy. looked like davy and goliath.
