bregman is getting more attention, and deservedly so. he's had a terrific year and has helped keep the astros in first while they missed time from altuve and correia. i think jd martinez will win. trout is clearly the best player in the league, but he has not been the most valuable player this season, not by a long shot.

cowart already hits as well as any pitcher in the NL. time for him to learn to throw a slider.

if this should happen, i don't see how they phils would have enough money to sign trout in a couple of years. you're looking at something north of $800 million for three players. i just don't see that happening.

in my school, we collect student phones when they arrive at homeroom and we keep them throughout the day, returning them when they leave. i'm glad i know about this alert because on thursday morning we're going to be finishing our standardized testing during that time, and the thought of a dozen cell phone emergency signals going off at once is something i'll need to plan for ahead of time.

we were watching GMA this morning and one hero lady who stayed behind to help people made her case that not everyone has the ability to leave due to lack of transportation, money, nowhere to go to, etc. She was pretty steamed at media types who had been critical of those who wouldn't leave. and the GMA hosts picked right up on that and agreed with her. i'd think if there was a mandatory evac order in place, there would be gov't services available to help those who needed it. No?
