    i like the idea. and as IP said, i think the union is on board if free agency starts one year sooner. add on some op-out years and this should be fine with the players.

    the 30 mil to spend is only if they decide to stay under the cap. arte always has the option to go above it if he chooses. i think if they want to keep trout AND attract top tier free agents, they'll have to go above the cap.

    if trout signs an extension, i'll bet we'd be a lot more attractive to free agents. we also have ohtani as a draw, and building around those two could be enough for top tier players to want to come here. we also have california weather with the beach nearby. we have a lot to offer.

    thank you for posting this. it's something we've dealt with since the stoneman days and all of us know it. the angels play things close to the vest and are not mentioned prominently in rumors like some of the other clubs. they don't disclose their plans publicly (nor should they). maybe it'll carry more weight coming from you.
