  1. The joke's on you -- they signed him in order to get the Crest Toothpaste people to advertise on the new big screens... Dude has one hell of a smile.
  2. He turned down the deal they gave Wade Davis.. He lost a shit ton.
  3. Because it's based on projection systems which for the most part are based on MLEs and aging curves. That type of a scenario doesn't really differentiate usage due to injury vs simple usage when it comes to play time -- so players like Richards and Skaggs get comped to similar totals and not similar situations in most cases. The best way to use these sorts of projections is to look at individual slash lines and predictive info then try to allocate playing time to a more likely outcome rather than just a historical comp. The Angels grade out better in projections where the system attempts to allocate usage more closely to what the Angels "hope" to do.
  4. http://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/22933609/jayson-werth-seattle-mariners-agree-minor-league-deal Would be amazing to see a game where Ichiro, Cruz and Werth are in the OF ....
  5. Yep.. Last year nobody saw us going after Upton -- Id be willing to bet that Eppler has a long term plan in place that might involve adding when the team needs it most. If he can add to his player pool in the draft and internationally, it means he can afford to trade at the deadline.
  6. Because they aren't ever NOT working on something?
  7. Scouting video of Park's bullpen sessions in AZ...
  8. Agreed. Lord knows they have all off-season to pitch in game conditions during the offseason. Lazy overpaid turds.
  9. It seems pretty clear at this point the Angels don't want to lose picks or money... We got what we got.
  10. Depending on who you speak to, AP is either partially responsible for the TV deal or not at all... Opinions may vary based on game day results.
  11. FULL MLB pension.. And everyone and their brother knows the minute he hangs it up he has job offers to coach... Dude will be a baseball lifer.
  12. I think it's a case of he's 18.... Get used to this being his shape.... The dude may just be fluffy... So long as he doesn't go Dimitri Young on them and he puts in the work it won't matter. But, there is no way he stays at SS.
  13. She was older, he was into her, he told her he was older to not have her write him off at hello. If it wasn't Albert Pujols and people didn't need reasons to believe he is older than he is nobody would care... I don't know that he isn't older than his stated age but the wife story is kinda lol...
  14. Agreed... I love Twitter as a news feed but find it impossible to get into any real back and forth on there.
  15. Albert Pujols was a sabermetric super prospect after his one season in the Midwest league... The league average ops that season was under .700 -- he was over .950 and in a severe pitchers park at the time. John Benson and Tony Blengino, some of the earliest prospect saber types had him among the top three prospects in mlb. Where Baseball America and other scouting first lists had guys like Sean Burroughs and Corey Patterson as the sure thing uber prospects Blengino and company weighed their rankings based on age .vs league, and park/league adjusted data.... They couldn't stop talking him up but even they didn't see him making the jump to mlb so fast.
  16. They were at times comically awful... And yeah man -- I can see studios losing their shit over horrible "word of mouth" press on what was the go to movie site for many.
  17. Wasn't making a comparison.... But it is the better question.... Everyone expected AP to decline -- the dude was 32, he was moving to the AL and to a pitchers park. Barring an injured testicle his decline was guaranteed. Heyward falling off the cliff during his prime years is IMO a bigger surprise although not really a shock.
