  1. Well, not sure about guys who turned down as much as 3.5 mil to play a different sport -- but there have been some guys that turned down money and ended up getting much much less. One of them held out three times and last anyone knew he was working in Costco changing tires. There is no question In my mind that Adams taking 3.5 mil and going to play baseball is the safest bet he will ever make.
  2. I agree with you and it's an indication of how much deeper the farm is.
  3. There are still a shit ton of them available... I'm a bit concerned about the kid's Father being a coach at the school he's got a commitment to play at.. because those guys tend to go play for their Dads.. but he's this year's Jo Adell as far as the guy that did the most to improve his stock
  4. His stuff took a step back early on.... Only thing that's been talked about.
  5. People I spoke to in Cinci, Yankees, and Red Sox, organizations all saw him going very early.
  6. Outperformed every projection people had for him coming out of college. Then got hurt. He became a guy.....
  7. I'm genuinely embarrassed to admit I wasn't aware you had one out. Btw... Glad you're posting here, If I haven't said it before I should go on record now as saying that your scouting reports have tended to match up most closely with those of people in the game that I'm still close to. I remember when you were the only person online talking up Nate Smith when he came out of Furman.... I had seen him pitch .vs Samford and Georgia Southern and walked away intrigued but nobody online so much as mentioned him before you. You've consistently been on guys that ended up being guys before the rest of the people online started copying each other's takes and passing them off as their own insights. Props to you
  8. I think Gilbert's heavy FB translates the best moving forward, particularly in the days of three outcomes and launch angles. An elevated GB/K rate combo for pitchers is typically a tremendous predictor of mlb success. Rolison's stuff fluctuations remind me way too much of the issues Chris Bootcheck had coming out of college. His stuff never fully came back.
  9. K Law's mock draft 4.0 17. Los Angeles Angels: Logan Gilbert, RHP, Stetson College arms, a few prep arms (notably Rodriguez and Weathers), and select prep bats, notably Adams.
  10. Yep -- same kid. Word is he's been talking up his options with FB in order to drive up his signing bonus. Not sure if he's heard it's not 2011 anymore and teams are much more married to slot $ than in the past, but he's made bonus money a topic of conversation. Tremendous athlete, but I worry about guys who make getting paid as big of a deal as some have reported he has.
  11. Another one run victory today, the 12th in their last 20 games. They have had two wins with a run differential greater than 2 over that span. Incredible run really.
  12. I can tell you the Yanks people think the Angels are extremely high on Adams. One of the Halos cross-checkers was seen at multiple games and apparently they had more than one person at some of his games recently. The love for Weathers was said to be real but, its now believed he will be gone.... Again from Yankees sources - the Angels are putting an extreme amount of weight on make up and athleticism, which may also keep them away from Adams as some wonder if he's supposedly too caught up in being paid. There are some whispers the Angels are very high on Bubic out of Stanford in the second round if he's still there. Fwiw... These were the same two people that told me last year the Angels were leaning heavily towards Adell .... that turned out to be spot on.
  13. https://www.mlb.com/news/5-mlb-teams-with-most-1st-round-draft-success/c-235346730 The Angels draft history is actually pretty impressive. They rank 4th overall with 155.7 WAR out of their 1st round picks since the 30 team era. Even if you take Trout out they would rank in the upper third all time. The Trout draft class is considered by many as the greatest single draft by any team ever. Trout, Skaggs, Richards, Grichuk and Patrick Corbin. What Doc 's list (and the linked article), show is just how difficult it is to draft well.
  14. Well, he had a good start today at least. His May ERA was 6.68
  15. The only way to change that it to make them believe that instant replay will make them expendable. That runners interference call on Simba is the sort of shit that escalated tensions between teams -- these dolts are supposed to diffuse situations. Honestly one of the most ignorant things I've seen from umpires in a long ass time.
  16. Hey! Look! Choo broke up the DP without spiking anyone!
  17. It really does look like they've told him to go out there and just let it rip and not to worry about going deep into games. Personally, I like it.
  18. He's starting to look video game level ridiculous.... He's kept the opposing team scoreless in 5 out of his last 6 starts and 7 of 10 total starts this season.
