Having been a member of various forums for many years, people do this sort of thing when they get called out / look bad in another thread. So their vengeance is to bump a thread to make someone look bad.

It goes down like this: Poster gets flamed/burned/called out in a thread. They get angry. They feverishly search the history of the poster who wronged them, looking for anything that will make them now look bad.
