The problem I have with the bear trap is that I want the scoring holes on the closing holes because it makes the round more exciting not the toughest holes on the course.

Amen corner is perfect. You get through amen corner (although the par 5 scores low) and then you score low to win on the last 5 holes. Augusta is the best. Perfect course to watch a tourney.

So while they play hard, they are somewhat boring to watch on tv compared to other infamous holes.

I think the difficulty of those holes is overstated, but I still think it is an awesome stretch.

The par 5 on amen corner is easy the other holes are difficult.

The main problem i have with pga national is that all the courses in florida are ugly to watch on tv. I would rather see cactus and desert courses than just grass and water which you find in florida. The only striking visual until you get to the masters are the wood barriers at tpc.

I am a fan of the Blue Monster also, there are usually a couple players that totally take on the water to try to make up ground on Sunday.

I don't like to see people fail (I'd rather see someone win), but seeing things like Sergio on 17 is quite the spectacle.

Yeah Sawgrass is goofy but 16-18 plays awesome on TV

11 isn't difficult. 13 has high risk high reward, but is a reachable par 5. 12 is the real killer of the three because it's a very narrow green (though plenty wide).

So, hard for the pros, too long for the hackers, just right for tank.

I think we had a lengthy chat about this last year. The cool thing about The Players is typically there are a lot of guys in contention, the angles and production value TV has is the best on tour, the finishing holes are great and the fields is as good as it gets. 

 

I'm with you though, the glaring weakness is really the front 9.

It forces players to be conservative.  There is nothing fun about laying up off the tee and 40 footers for birdie hole after hole.  I agree, the production value is the best on tour though.

That green is nuts and the fairway isn't exactly wide either.  Man, all this talk about Augusta makes me wish the Masters was next week.
