Phil Robertson Suspended from Duck Dynasty for "Anti-Gay" Remarks

This is the same thing that happened with the owner of Chick-fil-A. Everyone knows he is a conservative Christian, and now they are suddenly "shocked" that he holds a common conservative Christian belief.

 

Nobody is surprised. When you have an agenda, you will do anything to discredit everyone who disagrees with you.

Remember when some shows used to begin their broadcast with "The opinions expressed on this show are not necessarily the opinions of the network or the producers of this show."? Maybe that disclaimer needs to be revived.

What I would like to see is for people to understand that disagreement doesn't equal hate. We seem to have lost that critical bit of perspective.

Now all the family members have boycotted the show and threatening not to return. They are standing behind Phil since they feel A&E have punished him for his constitutional right. Jeff S is correct above. A&E should have just put out a disclaimer that the show doesn't agree with Phil's views and just moved on. This is what all of Phil's sponsors did.

 

A&E already knew how Phil viewed gays. He preaches in his community against the gay lifestyle. There are even videos of him doing it. So A&E sets him up with an interview to GQ knowing this subject would probably come up. Now they are acting all shocked and appalled that he stayed true to his views?! I'm not buying it. If A&E really had a problem with Phil's views, they would have never let him on the show. A&E have put themselves in a tough corner. They risk losing the highest rated cable show EVER over this. Now if they lift Phil's ban, it's going to look like they chose money over principle.

It's all about opinion scott.  Heck, you wanted to go to war against Syria based on a lie.  That opinion would have meant certain death for hundreds if not thousands.  Which opinion is really more despicable?

I can't find any quotes where he equated homosexuality with terrorism. The bestiality comparison is a terrible thing to say, though.

From what I read, when asked what he considers sin he didn't even hesitate and the first words out were homosexuality. Not murder, gluttony, child porn, adultery. So now his image starts to drift away from colorful country boy to typical bigoted redneck. This marks the beginning of the end of the show. The novelty will wear off much faster now. Adios to record ratings once the redneck demographic is all he has.

He was asked what he considers sin. He's not going to answer what the world knows is sin. Those things you mentioned are pretty much universally condemned so no need to bring them up. According to his beliefs, that's what he considers one of many sins.
