Musical instruments you've grown to hate

Are there any musical instruments you can't stand the sound of anymore?

I played trumpet for a few years beginning in 4th grade and hated it.  In the years since then I've grown less and less fond of any brass instruments, particularly in a big band or marching band setting.  Solo brass performances can be good depending on the song and performer, but the sound of trumpets, trombones, tubas, saxophones, french horns, etc -- all at the same time -- playing different beats has become unbearable for me at times. A good example of where this drives me nuts is listening to the Rose Parade go for hours with marching band after marching band.

What about you?

May I suggest that you take a trip to New Orleans so you can rid yourself of this silly hatred toward brass instruments? Some good, raw musical talent might change your mind.

I think you just explained the entire problem for me.

It's hard to enjoy musical instruments when you have to work so hard to find skilled performers.  Some instruments are still pleasing to the ear when the person playing them has poor or average skills.  But not brass IMHO.

I love music with lots of horns. The old Hammond organ sound is what drives me nuts now. It's why I've taken all the Doors' music off my ipod.

To be fair, the sound you probably heard from the Doors came either from a Vox Continental or Fender Rhodes Electric.  Ray didn't really incorporate the Hammond sound until The Soft Parade sessions with some songs from LA Woman as well.
