Playing like crap to start this game.  They are lucky they are playing the Islanders or they would be down about 3-0 10 minutes in.

Don't see any reason to be starting Hiller when Andersen has shown he can do what Hiller can and has been more consistent. Why not see what Andersen can do over the course of a full season (semi-full) especially if HIller isn't in the future plan of the Ducks.

Hiller made 49 saves against the Kings.

 

Also, Andersen is young, don't want to wear him out.  Ducks are one goaltender injury away from having Gibson up.

 

The goal tonight was not Hillers fault, the D gave that one up.

 

Man, you really hate Hiller.

I don't hate Hiller, I just don't think he is a great goalie, and the stats show it. He has great games and then he has bad games(and very few in between) and it all averages out to a 2.5 GAA. Not horrible but not a goalie I want starting in the playoffs if there are alternatives. Andersen is young but he the next in line for the full time job as soon as next year. He is sporting a 1.75 GAA so I want to see if this guy is for real of not(under 2 GAA) and if he is then start him in the playoffs.

The Ducks have had one of the worst defenses in the league over the last few years.  That definitely doesn't help his numbers.

It didn't help no, but last year Fasth played with that same defense and put up better numbers. Andersen is playing with that same defense this year and is putting up better numbers. Sample size? Maybe. But that's my whole point. I want him to start more so we see whether is it really the defense and his GAA will shoot up over 2 and up to 2.5 with more playing time or is he a better goalie.

Honda Center is roaring right now! Loudest I've heard this place in a while. I'm in awe from that final minute of the period. Short hander, and the you pissed off the PPG line goal of the year. Wow!

They take a 2 -1 lead then the ducks tie it & its still a winnable game for the Islanders.

 

Then comes that shorthanded goal to take the lead for the Ducks.

Then they trip up Perry & he still scores.

After that its game over for the Islanders.
