No hint of rain through January 11 in SoCal, and constant low humidity.

Get ready for brush fires of a huge magnitude in the summer.

Meh. If it's not the dry heat that's turning the brush into tinder, it's the excessive rain that allowed the brush to grow into fuel for the fire. Whatever gets the ratings on the local news I guess...

AO wants lots of rain so the brush can grow and burn down all of So Cal in August

Philly's going to get hit hard tonight:

... Winter Storm Warning remains in effect from 6 PM this evening

to 1 PM EST Friday...

* locations... much of southeastern Pennsylvania... central and
northern New Jersey south of Interstate 80.

* Hazard types... snow along with areas of blowing and drifting
snow.

* Snow accumulations... accumulation of 4 to possibly as much as 8
inches.

* Timing... snow will begin during the evening commute. The bulk of
the snow will occur through the overnight hours. Blowing snow
will develop after midnight.

* Impacts... travel will become hazardous tonight as snow
accumulates and temperatures fall through the 20s. Snowfall
rates near an inch per hour are expected at times tonight. It is
possible that the combination of snow and wind creates near
blizzard conditions at times... especially for coastal Monmouth
and coastal ocean counties in New Jersey.

* Winds... north 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 35 mph.

* Temperatures... falling into the teens by Friday morning with
wind chill near 5 below zero.

I don't remember a better November-January, weather-wise. It has been amazing

Yeah, I remember last winter was fantastic around here, weather-wise. This year is just about the same, and I'm sure next year will be better. No more rain for California. Ever.

Forecast here on Monday high of -12 low of -19.  My wife's cousin was saying she has never seen anything like it.

Brutal conditions expected in Green Bay for Sunday's Niners/Packers game. A high of 5 degrees and a low of -17.

Horrific football weather. I would think it's dangerous to be playing in those conditions.

edit: Forecast revised, now showing a high of 3 degrees.

Usually mild winter equates with a very hot summer around here. Cold winters usually mean mild summers.

I'll take a cold winter every year.

Problem is, this one has been about average temps wise so far.

Average Irvine high since Dec. 21 (first day of winter) = 75.

Average Irvine high from Dec 21-Jan 2 over the years = 65.

We got about 6 inches of snow since Wednesday morning.  Finally stopped snowing around noon today.  On the news they are saying it will be the coldest weather in decades.  We are also about a foot of snow over the average at this point.  Depending on which weather website the temp is estimated between -11 and -15 for the high and -16 to -19 low.  I am not sure it really matters at those temps.

Notice it is also going to be windy that day...

Speaking of the Packers, I have an old friend who bought tickets to the game. He says it will take him 30 hours to drive from Bellflower to Green Bay, I just hope he stays warm.

It is actually closer to 33 hours.  It took us 31 hours from Arcadia to Milwaukee.  It is about an 1:45 from here to Green Bay.
