WTF is with this bleeping weather?

Heat is on up here in the sierra too. Expected to be around 100 the next 2 days and then down to the mid-high 90's for the foreseeable future.

Also..Happy Solstice!

(From NOAA)

The Summer Solstice occurs today at 3:34 PM PDT. This also happens
to coincide with a full moon this morning.

Solstice
Either of the two times per year when the sun is at its greatest angular distance from the celestial equator: about June 21 (the Northern Hemisphere summer solstice), when the sun reaches its northernmost point on the celestial sphere, or about December 22 (the Northern Hemisphere winter solstice), when it reaches its southernmost point.

I'll take the straight heat, over 92 degrees and am thunderstorms.  You might as well take 5 shirts to work with you.  Everytime you step outside, you'd need to change one.

Yup, that will end up being the worst day of the year.  We seems to always get one.

as bad as it is here today, this is still better than the caribbean (that probably sounds a bit pretentious right know, but whatever). while every day was between 82-86, the humidity was at least 90% each day. Falmouth, Jamaica was an absolute beast. we sang in a church with no A/C, but they had some giant fans that made it a bit less horrifying.

It was 98 officially in Denver (at DIA). Record is 99.

That's plenty hot enough for me. I don't need to see 110 or that shit you're seeing in SoCal. The following will make some jealous:

It's supposed to be mid-80s with thunderstorms tomorrow...

Forest Service Survey Finds Record 66 Million Dead Trees in Southern Sierra Nevada

Underscores Need for Congress to Take Action on Fire Budget Fix

VALLEJO, Calif., June 22, 2016 - The U.S. Forest Service today announced that it has identified an additional 26 million trees dead in California since October 2015. These trees are located in six counties across 760,000 acres in the southern Sierra Nevada region of the state, and are in addition to the 40 million trees that died statewide from 2010 to October 2015, bringing the total to at least 66 million dead trees. Four consecutive years of severe drought in California, a dramatic rise in bark beetle infestation and warmer temperatures are leading to historic levels of tree die-off.

"Tree dies-offs of this magnitude are unprecedented and increase the risk of catastrophic wildfires that puts property and lives at risk," said Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack. "While the fire risk is currently the most extreme in California because of the tree mortality, forests across the country are at risk of wildfire and urgently need restoration requiring a massive effort to remove this tinder and improve their health. Unfortunately, unless Congress acts now to address how we pay for firefighting, the Forest Service will not have the resources necessary to address the forest die-off and restore our forests. Forcing the Forest Service to pay for massive wildfire disasters out of its pre-existing fixed budget instead of from an emergency fund like all other natural disasters means there is not enough money left to do the very work that would help restore these high mortality areas. We must fund wildfire suppression like other natural disasters in the country."
