Nate, check out the box scores from 05 to 08. Kobe had plenty of miserable night from the floor. You just don't remember them because you were a fan of his back then. I don't understand your complete distaste for him now. It's unwarranted and actually quite tiring to read all the time in this thread.

No you are correct, that was the first sign of him being a cancer.  He pushed Shaq away and Phil into retirement.  At the time though he was good enough to be the asshole selfish player.  He was far better then than he is now yet he still does it.

Nate, Kobe has been this way since day 1 in the league. I don't know why it has taken you until this year to realize it. Probably because the Lakers were winning. Now that they suck, you all of a sudden open your eyes. Kobe hasn't changed, the team around him has and it wasn't his fault. It was Jim Buss' fault. But you will never allow yourself to see it that way.

Are you really comparing 05 to this year? In 05, he had 10 games out of 80 in which he shot 35% or less. This year he already has 5 out of 22 (and that's not counting the 2 games he shot 10-28, 35.7%). Having some miserable nights from the floor is normal as long as you have most nights where you are decent. He was doing it in 05, not so much this year.

He pushed Shaq out, which was a positive thing for the Lakers. You think Kobe is selfish, you must have hated Shaq then. I get that Kobe isn't what he was but the reason the Lakers suck is much more on management than on Kobe.

I know it was without the Spurs having the Finals MVP, the impossible matchup in Kawhi Leonard.

But a win in S.A. is still special.

That Bryant practice tirade must have cleared the air, for now. Of course, Young throwing down 3s from everywhere helped a lot.

The drive for top 5 will be a battle. There are a lot of bad teams in the NBA. Fortunately though, most of them are in the Eastern Conference and the Lakers only play each of them twice.

Neither of them are "worth" it but both are over paid.  Better to let them be over paid by another team though IMO.

Let's not forget Lin is making $17M to come off the bench. I know the Lakers didn't sign him, and only traded for his expiring contract. But talk about overpaid.

Lin is making $15 miilon, of which $8M counts against the cap. They also received a 1st and 2nd round pick in the deal1 for the rights to this guy
