Jason Heyward hit in the face by 90-mph fastball

Recommended Posts

After surgery today, where two plates were inserted in his jaw, one for each fracture...the new estimate of time seems to be 6-8 weeks.
6 weeks being very best case scenerio..
That is not taking into consideration a long time of liquid diet, no minors to go to to get timing back (the minor season will be over)

and not a very promising history of players who have come back from this type of injury....

I really think they will be looking for another OF, and rumor has it that they would LOVE an upgrade @ 2b too...
Seems like we might have a trade partner in Atlanta.

The Braves don't need another outfielder. They could cruise at this point and still win the division and not have to play in a wild card game that could be decided by a fluke "infield fly".

They could plug Evan Gattis out there and get some "serviceable" games.

They just have to hope Heyward heals in time for their first NLDS matchup.
