I will go on record to say that it was not a mistake for the Angels to sign Albert but ........it was a big mistake for Albert to leave St Louis which is his real home and comfort zone. This has not worked out for either side.

Pujols has shown plenty of flashes of his former self as an Angel. Now, he will probably never be the 1.000+ OPS Pujols ever again, but I do believe he still has a few .900+ OPS seasons left in him, and can ultimately be productive over the next 4-5 years of his contract. I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt this year because of his foot. He started out great, then it seemed that his foot started getting to him and he just pushed through it.

 

I'll give him one more year before I call him a complete bust.

I don't expect Albert to put up the numbers he did in STL again, ever.

What I would like to see Albert do, is become a solid, feared, DH.
His insistence of being started at 1st base (and Scioscia's inability to say no to it) hurt the team.
My personal issue with Albert is that he wants to do what he wants to do, not what is best for the team, not what he CAN do

to help the team win.

At this point, they didn't have somebody who would be better at 1B than Albert.  Maybe next season they will, but can't really blame Sosh for choosing the best option for the position.
