I believe many of you have probably read this article and I belief Ryan Madson makes some valid points.

Professional athletes use their bodies to make their living and get injured in the process.

 

Personally I agree with Madson ... not sure how you could make it work.

I don't see anything wrong with what he said. He is referring to the proper use of steroids, which is to speed healing. They increase the rate of tissue growth. Taken properly under the supervision of a physician, they serve a legitimate purpose. Synthesized, strengthened and sold illegally through drug mills, they are used to bulk up beyond all reason.

The problem if they allow this is how to test to see if a player is using them all the time instead of just during injury rehab. While I like the idea for healing, this would open the door to even greater abuse.

Teams and players both would game the system to get guys to use PEDs...   Injuries would be made up, condtions would "linger"....   The only possible way to make it work would be not let guys get back on the field until they can test clean...  and that can take months...

 

The only way to be PED free is to take a hard line stance.

There is a Therapeutic Use Exemption for medically indicated doctor's prescriptions built into the drug policy.

Just let athletes use peds under doctors supervision. We cant keep the system clean so let them all use them.
