In a rather unexpected announcement, Deadline is reporting that a spinoff of the hit Rocky franchise is in the works with the Fruitvale Station team of writer-director Ryan Coogler and leading man Michael B. Jordan. Titled Creed, the new film will follow the grandson of Apollo Creed.

I'll spoil the ending for you.  In the end, Creed says I don't need an old up geezer like you, then Rocky comes out of retirement and whips that whipper snapper good.

Whenever I think about Rocky, my mind drifts back to Airplane. There is a scene in which someone is in the gift shop at the airport, and in the background is a poster depicting a scrawny old man who looks to be about 90 wearing boxing trunks, gloves and with his arms raised, with the title "Rocky" followed by a string of Roman numerals about a mile long.

 

I believe that I'm close on the details. It has been a long time since I've seen the movie.
