You're starting to see cracks in Burnes. His K rate has gone down, his cutter (which is considered his best pitch) has declined, and he has struggled in the second half. He is already showing decline while looking for a big year.

I think the better route would be to go after Kikuchi/ or someone similar and Bieber, as you could still get similar value with fewer years and less money spent, and still fill other needs.

FIP since 2022 is around 3.50, good but no t great.

F/A pitchers want to go to contenders they are not coming. Burnes is going to Cubs, Kikuchi is going to Padres.

I would just say that this is incredibly negative.

Players want to get paid.

They will get paid from contenders. This is not negative it is reality. What is negative is way halos are run.

As you've been a fan since 1961, you know the Angels have been players in free agency a lot of the offseasons since 2003-2004 when Moreno took over.

That offseason, they signed the best starting pitcher -- Colon, the best hitter -- Guerrero, and two up and coming guys.

In 2007-2008, they signed Hunter and traded for Jon Garland.

In 2011-2012, they signed Pujols, Wilson and traded for Iannnetta.

In 2012-2013, they signed Hamilton.

In 2019, they signed Rendon and tried for Cole.

They spend money on Free Agents. And even after bad years, those players still come here.

I'm expecting a 2004 type offseason, cuz that's what Moreno does. He throws money at free agents hoping to solve the problem.

Problem is, since 2012, none of them truly panned out.

Need to do a MUCH better job at picking the ones to sign.
