Obviously, I don't care at all about cutting Calhoun, but lol at calling up Lopez.  Why bother?

I am surprised they didn't bring up Moore, but maybe they want him to get around 30 games in, not 40 to keep him under 130 AB's. That would mean he would be called up around 8-30.

Yeah, I could see that logic re: Moore and I don't really have any issue with it--but I still just don't know why you'd even bother swapping Calhoun for Lopez, and not just waiting another couple weeks to dump Calhoun when you do eventually call up Moore.  Maybe it's just a reward for being a good org guy for the past couple years and to give him a little pay boost before he's inevitably let go?

I mean, they had Stefanic play SS yesterday.

Calhoun is only an OF and a DH at this point, is he not? Maybe they want to put Rendon or Drury more at DH the next 6 weeks.

I don't know that Lopez is any better of a SS than Stefanic, but maybe...

The MLB app initially listed Stefanic at SS. It was corrected to 2B later.

I think it might be that Lopez can actually play a position. And they probably would not be upset if they DFA Lopez at the end of the seasonwhen all the injured guys have to be reinstated.

That was a big part of the deal with Calhoun. Pretty much a DH only.
