Brandon Drury: how long until he gets cut?

Who is the backup 3rd baseman if Drury is cut? We can’t count on Rendon coming back and staying healthy and Rengifo tends to get banged up.

As bad as this team is, unless he’s stealing AB’s from someone, what does it matter?

Guillorme, Stefanic.

The question is how much of his struggles this year can be attributed to his physical problems.  Don't forget that he had three straight above average seasons prior to this year.  Since the Angels are on the hook for his salary in any event, I would give him significant playing time in order to determine whether he is a good bounce-back candidate.  Worst case, he doesn't perform and we lose a few more games.  Isn't that the plan anyway?

I don’t doubt that the injuries have effected him. But it’s August, he’s hitting .158 and he’s on an expiring contract. I’d rather see Stefanic or another younger guy.

He barely played in 2021, so I don't think you can really count that as one of his "above average" years.  He spent more time in AAA than he did with the Mets.  He's not good.  I don't care if he hits .500 for the rest of his time with the Angels: he's not someone they should be considering bringing back.

He played in 51 games with the Mets in 2021.  In 2022 and 2023 he had over 1000 AB (combined) with an OPS of over .800.  Excluding Trout and Pillar (who have played less than 100 games combined this year), how many Angels have an OPS over .800 this year?  The answer--0.

He got a whopping 88 PA in those 51 games with the Mets in '21. As I said elsewhere in this thread, his '22-'23 seasons are massive outliers in his career. He's a negative career WAR guy outside of those years.

Drury has played 5 years in which he has had at least 400 AB.  Of those years, the ONLY one he had a negative WAR was 2019 (-0.6 WAR).  You are entitled to your opinion, but 2024 is the outlier year.

fWAR favors him more than bWAR.  Regardless, over the entirety of his career, he's barely above a replacement level player. The partial seasons still count!  He's not a very reliable player. If you want to spend a few million more next year hoping he can get back to his '22-'23 levels, go for it.  I'm gonna guess he doesn't.

if christian moore keeps hitting in the minors, we might see him up here by the end of the month.

stefanic should play every day and use this as a chance to show he belongs in anaheim.

I know it’s not Perry’s thing but I’d wait until September before I’d even think about bringing Moore up, depending on how he does in AA. I’d like to see Stefanic get a real shot for now.
