Scioscia's rotation decisions

Didn't Lackey pitch last night for Boston? Why wouldn't Scioscia pitch Weaver in the opener versus Saunders? Would have liked our odds of at least getting one in Seattle. Instead, Williams gets pounded AGAIN, and we're wasting a Weaver start against a top five pitcher who was due against us. I suppose Iwakuma is next. Sigh.  

 

Every time I want to believe this team has a run in them, they blow a series like this.

I think the idea of changing your pitching rotation based on who the other team has pitching for them in a game in July might be the gayest (no offense gays) thing I've ever heard. It's gayer than Adam's 5 guys having sex with 3 other guys. We should have lit up a pitcher like Saunders, left handed or not. Maybe we will find our swing today, against a very good pitcher, who knows, it will be tough. Hope we get to see the Blanton who pitched in June.

I like the idea of managing by who you think is "due."  Can't believe more teams aren't already doing that.

Scioscia probably didn't want to throw off Weavers rest time between starts to 7 days, and instead spread it to two 6 days.  

 

Baseball players are creatures of repetition and habit.  You throw off their schedule by too much, you could throw them off.
