We currently have the third best odds of getting the number one pick this year behind Colorado and Miami.  We have two less wins than Toronto and Washington so it’s possible we finish with a better record than those teams, which will decrease those odds further. Both Oakland and The White Sox appear to be ineligible to draft in the top 9 because they were in the draft lottery last year.

Ironically, the Angels two most important series of the season might be the one they just played vs. Washington and the upcoming one vs. Toronto.

including a rookie named steve garvey.

Garvey was in the right place at the right time. He was a3rd baseman with a bad arm who couldn't throw anymore. First base was going to be Bill Seinsoth's. He was an All American out of USC and Arcadia High. The off season before his supposedly rookie season, he was killed in a car crash. His death opened up 1b for Garvey.

Here's the crazy part.... The car crash happened while he was going to fly out to see his college buddy's pro NFL debut.   His friend?  OJ Simpson.
