Figured we should do a thread to keep everything in one place from here on out.

I'll update this Google Sheet when the drafted players sign and also keep tracking of bonus allotments, overages/underages, etc.

Quick question about slot money.  If they failed to sign Cortez or Johnson, do they still get that slot money to sign late round draft picks?  Also would they also get a comp pick next year?

If you don't sign a pick in the first 10 rounds, you lose the slot value of that pick.  You can't disperse it among the other picks.

I believe you only get compensation for an unsigned draft pick in the first two rounds.

Also, just curious, if the team did something crazy like give Moore a major league deal, could that be a way to circumvent his bonus pool money to use for other picks?

You can't do that anymore.

https://www.mlb.com/news/highest-signing-bonuses-in-mlb-draft-history

"Four players have received larger guarantees than Skenes via big league contracts, which were prohibited for draftees when the bonus-pool system was instituted in 2012. Strasburg (Nationals, 2009, No. 1 overall) commanded a deal that promised him $15,107,104, a figure that won't be topped for many years to come. Mark Prior (Cubs, 2001, No. 2) landed a $10.5 million contract, Bryce Harper (Nationals, 2010, No. 1) signed a $9.9 million deal and Mark Teixeira (Rangers, 2001, No. 5) inked a $9.5 million contract."

I remember when Boras wanted a $10.5 million dollar bonus for Weaver, Moreno wouldn't budge and ended up accepting $4 million.

He was expected to got in the top 3 spots in the draft. He told teams he wouldn't sign unless he got that $10m. He dropped down to the Angels and took their offer.

if anyone is thinking those undrafted free agents are just filler, some of our recent undrafted free agent guys are pushing themselves into the MLB depth chart….

  • Michael Darrell-Hicks: 1.60 ERA, 0.89 WHIP, .198 BAA, 0 HR allowed, 6 BB to 40 K in 24 G/33.2 IP for Rocket City
  • Hayden Seig: 2.06 ERA, 1.04 WHIP, .204 BAA, 2 HR allowed, 11 BB to 39 K in 27 G/39.1 IP for Rocket City
  • Kenyon Yovan: 4.78 ERA, 1.50 WHIP, .279 BAA, 3 HR allowed, 14 BB to 28 K in 23 G/32 IP for Rocket City (1 G) and Salt Lake
  • Will Christophersen: 5.35 ERA, 1.30 WHIP, .204 BAA, 2 HR allowed, 20 BB to 51 K in 17 G/37 IP for Inland Empire
  • Bryce Teodosio: .312/.367/.493/.860, 15 doubles, 9 triples, 5 HR, 22 BB to 80 K, 21-24 SB attempts in 75 G/302 PA for Salt Lake
  • Ben Gobbel: .264/.324/.416/.740, 11 doubles, 9 HR, 16 BB to 55 K, 7-8 SB attempts in 68 G/273 PA for Tri-City (.843 OPS in 34 G) and Rocket City (.622 OPS in 34 G)

Not sure how reflective it is that our farm is so bad that these guys are playing themselves into being on the depth charts, or if the Angels are doing a solid job when it comes to scouting UDFAs but goes to show some of these guys we’re seeing how could still have impact.
