Somebody smarter than me, please confirm:

last year Moniak had a good run through June/early July, then had an historical drop off. I believe around .220 rest of the year and like almost 40% K.

Adell this year had a really solid first 30 games. Then probably the worst run I’ve seen from a player ever. I can’t remember one worse. It’s been 120+ ABs now where I think his WRC+ is close to 0. I think?

Is this more indicative of them being easy to figure out and pitchers just easily getting them out? Or them just being totally lost and in their own head to a 99th percentile degree? I mean Adell has like had a 140 point drop in his average since April 30 and a 360 point drop in OPS. It hasn’t stopped.

Moniak's hot run early last year was fueled by a crazy-high BABIP.  From July 28 to the end of the season, he slashed .202/.220/.326 with 54 K in 132 plate appearances (and only 3 BB).  This year's results to date are pretty similar to what he did during that run from late July until the end of the year: he's currently at .191/.245/.304.

He's just not very good.

Yeah that’s where I’m at. Neither him nor Adell are long term solutions in the OF. I truly feel Adell has now had all the chances he needs to show he can be a productive starter.

If Moniak can settle this year around .230-.240 and hit like he has in June more consistently, I’d give him another year. I do not think this is likely.

I think it’s the best thing for the Angels and for Jo to allow him to try somewhere else. I wonder if he has any trade value at all.
