That said, if he’s a similar player next July and not signed, they can and should still trade him and probably get a solid return. Crossing my fingers that someone between Fontenelle, Mershon, Paris, Stefanic, Placencia or even Lugo can start carving out a similar utility role sometime in 2025.

With Fontenelle pretty much losing a year of development, i think 2026 will be his eta. I think worse case scenario for him would be a backup 3b/1b. Kind of like what Rob Quinlan was back in the day. I would love for him to good enough to be a long term starter at 3b. We haven't had a good 3bman for years if you throw Rendon out of the question.

Based on Strad's first pitch performance and what the eventually got for Luis Garcia, you have to wonder how many prospects the Angels would have been able to wrangle away from Boston had they offered up Strad.

Not saying I make that trade but, pretty sure it would have been a solid haul.

There are a ton of people on here who would trade me to Boston straight up for Sam Horn’s jock strap. I have my 10/5 rights with this team. I’m not going anywhere.

Strad and his 2nd best In N Out truck should get you Devers and their top 3 prospects and the Red Sox take Rendon's full contract.
