Mederos is getting shelled in his first A+ start (he was demoted): 4 IP, 6 ER.

He settled down after allowing 5 ER in the first, but, yeah, overall, just more of the same for him.  As I've said repeatedly, the dude has NEVER gotten even decent results at any level.  It's borderline laughable at this point.

Well it just shows you how desperate they were last year, that a guy as bad as he was performing in AA got called to the majors. He seems to be a fringy guy at best.

Isn’t the AA season almost over so any worry about limiting Dana’s innings seems kind of irrelevant no? What’s he got 2 maybe 3 starts left in the season

I thought they said they were letting him go balls out, can't remember.

Would love to see him get called up after the season ends; pitch some games out of the pen and maybe make a start or two. Not sure what the plan is, though. He's still 20 so 🤷

I guess to see if he's got anything left so they can offer him a MLB deal?

Are they able to do that before the offseason since he's signed to a minor league contract?

If not I don't really understand. Just depth I guess.

Sure, they can offer him an extension for next year at any point once he's under their control, even if he signed a minor league deal.

I see. So that's probably the reasoning. If they like what they see from him then they'll offer him an extension. Considering everything he would probably be an idiot to turn it down.

I had Moore at 149th overall on the day he signed, and he has played only eight pro games when I'm writing this, but check out his line: 38 PA, .543/.579/1.114, six home runs. I texted a few teams to ask if I could justify moving Moore after eight games and the answer was something like, "Ehhh, I mean yes?" The underlying data is also a bit better than expected, and I already had him as high as any media rankings had Moore pre-draft (12th), so I'll push more chips into the middle.

I think both Foster and Nicholson need to be promoted up to A+ before the end of the season, with plans to have them start at AA next season.

Nicholson is 23, so not expecting much, but you never know.

Foster is 21, and has been smoking the ball this year. But needs to be changed at higher levels.

Fangraphs also has Klassen higher than Dana: Rada, Klassen, Dana, Moore, Aldeghiri. That was their post-draft ranking, so I'm guessing they're going to bump Moore at some point (no way he's a 45 FV guy).

My top 5 Angels prospects would be:

  1. Moore
  2. Rada
  3. Dana
  4. Klassen
  5. Aldeghiri

I can see an argument that Klassen's stuff puts him above Dana, but Dana's age and overall vibe gives him a slight edge, in my book. I also really like Aldeghiri, who I think has the makings of a solid #3-4.

After that I'd probably rank Cortez, Johnson, and Kent in some order. Maybe Koch next. Then it gets dicey, as we have a bunch of guys that still need to develop to get a sense of their upside--Laverde, Flores, Joswa Lugo, Urena, etc--mixed in with lower upside guys that probably profile as roleplayers (e.g. Minacci, M Lugo, etc).

Denzer Guzman is a guy I always forget about. His prospect luster has faded a bit, though maybe in a way that we should have expected: I kind of see his upside being Maicer Izturis or Alberto Callaspo, which is still a very nice player to have, but his bat just hasn't developed (yet) as hoped and I don't see anything to be too excited about, but would still rank him in the top 20, just lower half.
