Angels fan for life

The halos are baseball’s Three Stooges (25-man style).

I’ve managed to keep a flame for them despite the self-inflicted despair they’ve left me over the years.  I pray the pain ends. 2002 was ages ago.

It would be nice to see the team turn into a contender again.

if they were ever going to remake Major League, the Angels would be a good real-life club to model.

As Rambo said in First Blood, you just don't turn it off.

I've survived plenty being a fan of this team: Nolan Ryan leaving, 1982 sweep in Milwaukee, one strike away, collapse of 1995, playoff drought from 1987 to 2001, Red Sox knocking the Angels out of the playoffs in 04, 07, and 08, Josh Paul not throwing the 1B to get A.J. Pierzynski (A.J. did what my little league coach told me to do), Fox Sports whining about the Angels for extending the 2009 ALCS to six games because they wanted the Yankees in the World Series.  Not to mention all the players who died: Lyman Bostock, Donnie Moore, Nick Adenhart, and Tyler Skaggs.  I've seen worst days than this.  More important things going on in the world than a baseball player leaving one team for another.

I agree with the sentiment of being an Angel fan for life. I grew up cheering on Bobby Grich, Decinces, Downing, Baylor, Carew etc. Chuck Finley will always be a long-time favorite. I will continue to cheer the new players on and will find new favorites. Trout is still easy to pull for.

Ohtani was my favorite current player. I had been divorced for a couple of years by 2021, and after not really watching baseball for a decade, I got the MLB package and started watching the Angels w my son. He was 14 at the time and we "fell in love" with Ohtani together. We spent a lot of hours on the couch those summer evenings talking about life, pausing to watch Ohtani bat and marveling at his majestic home runs. We played catch in the yard daily that summer.

This next season will be different, but still fun. We will still watch some games together, we will still have great conversations while the Angels play in the background.

for the first time in a while, our expectations will be pretty darn low. i kind of like that.

Always the best way to start out (with low expectations), then it can only go up from there.

Otherwise your setting yourself up for disappointment.

When in doubt paddle out……

i've been wondering what signing ohtani is going to do to dodger ticket prices. i read yesterday that they already have the most expensive prices in MLB, and i'm guessing their pricing is headed north once again. i'm sure they'll stick it to the fans on parking and concessions, too.

saw a report last night that tickets on the second hand resale market for opening day for the dodgers are starting at $514.

McCourt still owns the parking lot....
