We’ve said it before and a GM on a shit team like the Angels should have given him a chance.  If he sucked then cut him loose.  If he pitched like he did in Japan and Mexico then you trade him to a contender (after being the ‘first Guinea pig’ to give him a MLB chance and see that there will be no backlash) and get a couple solid prospects back.

Get young position player prospects that are close or ready to plug into the lineup in return for all of these guys (Anderson, Strickland, Estevez, Ward, Moore, maybe Rengifo) and then sign Trevor Bauer.

It is super weird the fascination a lot of guys have with Bauer.  Teams want to win, all of them, they want to win. No team is signing the guy because he simply isn’t worth it to any of the 30 teams in the league. I even agree it’s only the first team that will get shit on for signing him.  So if a team like the Angels/A’s signed him with the idea to flip him for prospects, those teams don’t even see that as being valuable.  We can pretend it’s because Manfred won’t allow it, but that isn’t a real thing. If he won’t allow it, then a team can simply sign him and force Manfred’s hand, which he can’t even play because if he plays the hand and “punishes” a team for signing Bauer he is admitting to collusion.
