Elon Musk’s offer of ‘free internet’ to Hurricane Milton victims isn’t quite what it seems

https://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/americas/us-politics/elon-musk-hurricane-milton-internet-starlink-b2627190.html

However, the billionaire failed to mention that victims of the disasters would need to purchase a Starlink starter kit for almost $400, The Register first reported.

Starlink’s website allows users in the affected hurricane zone to input their address, which then waives the service charge. However, the total cost, including the hardware, tax, shipping, and handling, still amounts to $396.68.

After 30 days, customers who qualify for free access will be automatically moved onto a $120-a-month subscription.

They celebrated Thanksgiving Day in America before America?

Are you suggesting the American people and  had no  customs and heritage prior to America?

Like @arch stanton, I'm suggesting there were no "American" traditions before there was an America

The most common traditions were killing Native Americans, taking their land, and escaping religious persecution in one country to start new religious-persecution sects in the colonies.

Did Christian exist before Christ arrived?

I’ll argue the foundations of Christianity began before the birth of Christ. The term Christian came years after Christ death. Does that mean The Crucifying of Jesus isn’t Christian history? Are you going to argue Genesis and the Old Testament prophets aren’t part of Christian history?

Is the Boston Tea party not part of America’s history ?

The town was called Boston at the time of the tea party.

You can say that Genesis and the Old Testament prophets are certainly part of the Christian origin story.  But none of them were celebrating Christian traditions.  There was no Christian traditions until there was a Christ.  Just like there were no American traditions until there was an America.

You’re ignoring the fact that followers of Christ existed before the label Christian. Christian was the name of eventually given to the practice.

Americans existed as a culture with traditions long before the Nation. Our traditions and practices were outlined in our founding documents. From day 1, Americans were predominantly Christian and their traditions came with them. Suggesting America started with a zero traditional balance ignores the fact that our laws came from somewhere. The people put their values and traditions on paper and named them America.

Hope fully wife changed her name when you got married. That didn’t change her date of birth or the vast majority of her traditions. It simply changed how people refer to her.
