Well the confederate flag has changed over the years. Only the  rednecks displayed it years ago. Most were welfare trailer park democrats. 

The media and libs war on working whites have pushed a lot of working class whites to really embrace the flag as a big Fu to big government libs. 
 

Hell, my son is pretty dark skinned. When we sold our house, I forgot he had a big confederate flag hung in his room so the eventual buyers caught a glimpse. He has 3 or 4 different versions in his college dorm. Its actually pretty comical when his black friend , Nate Higgers, breaks  out the Maga hat.

Of course the democrat party has always hated America. Nothing has changed. In political masterclass they’ve managed to pin their sins on their political enemies and symbols. They’ve destroyed damn near everything associated with slavery except the party name. 
 

Higgers ain’t the kids last name but he and many others have used that name in social media.

In 1860 my people voted 2-1 against southern democrats. This might shock you but poor mountain people didn’t own slaves and were not big supporters of Dems. Really the Dems didn’t hook southern maintain people until FDR pitched socialism.

It’s really ironic the Libs and Libertarians are offended by a flag and look down their noses at the south. Yes slavery was wrong. However , sending a check to 2/3s of the black population doesn’t justify the killing 50% of their offspring. Out of an abundance of love pc whites refuse to prosecute crime and allow lawlessness to destroy the black communities.

I’m well aware of the dynamics of the south. Many southerners were against secession but as you stated, still fought for the south,  who seceded because they knew if slavery wasn’t allowed to expand, it would eventually die off. Whether the individual soldier owned slaves or not, a good majority still fought for a government that wanted to preserve it (and I’m sure wouldn’t have minded being a plantation owner with slaves over being a poor dirt farmer).
 

Many Appalachian people in West Virginia, Tennessee and North Carolina wanted nothing to do with the war and some even fought for the Union. But many felt they were also being invaded and wanted to defend their homes so they fought for the south.

Regardless, most southerners were democrats, whether they were fire eaters or moderates (you weren’t going to find many republicans below the Mason Dixon line, if any). Whether they fought for the north or south. And I’m pretty sure you would have been one of them.

Not arguing the south was primarily democrat. Most libs like to pin racism on southern republicans today and the reality is Dems were still the party of the klan through Clinton. The last klan supporting dem was still in office during Obama. The democrat party’s persecution of blacks didn’t end with the switch theory. They simply switched tactics to abortion and feeding black moral decline.
