You have made the exact same post on this board every year going on a decade now.

I haven’t but if you have zero hope in a team that is 2.5 games out of a playoff spot with 90+ games to play then yes you are personally wasting your time. And if made a post like this a decade ago, you should have listened.

Don’t mistake this as me guaranteeing a playoff spot. It’s more about a fan giving up hope in a year where they have a winning record and could be a game and a half out by the end of the day.

And what happened 10,9,8,7,6,5,4 years ago have no bearing on what’s happening now.

I understand what you're saying Strad, and I agree to a certain extent.

Is it also fair to say that if an organization is flawed or dysfunctional in some way that those conditions will affect results (wins and losses) on a yearly basis?

I don't know this to be true. But I can see it as a potential possibility esp when you look at the results on the field from the last 7 years.

In the last seven years we’ve had 2 GMs 4 managers, and 24 of the 25 guys on the roster replaced. What happened then on the MLB field or in the dugout has no bearing on today.

The team has a better than 0% chance of making the playoffs but I'm not gona fault fans for rounding down, given the actual context of the season, and I'm sure as hell not going to question their fan card over it.

Let's also note that you are moving the goal posts here. You originally argued that fans that are CONFIDENT that this team is done should give up their fan card. This is considerably different than saying 0% chance of making the playoffs.

Ok then leave it as confident and my opinion is the same.  But I said zero hope not zero chance.  I’m not questioning their fan card.  I’m questioning if you have no confidence in a year where they have a decent chance based on the standings, then why do this to yourself?  It’s rhetorical.

Fangraphs, who projected them to make the playoffs in the pre-season, has them at a little better than 1 in 4 chance of making the playoffs as of today. No sane person would be confident in their chances. If being a fan is truly irrational by definition then maybe you're right.

Make up your mind.
