That last dugout shot showed Ohtani, and it looks like he's on his last rope with this team.

I agree but think Thaiss gets claimed.  This would be a good time to try it though.

I'll begin to worry about the team and their chances at contending if/when we keep seeing guys like Tepera and Loup pitching in these situations in June/July. Let them sink early in the year and make it apparent that they aren't the answer for these situations

 

Yeah.  I mean a lot of teams are finding their footing in the beginning and trying to sort thing out.

The good news is it appears Perry is being aggressive when it comes to making moves.  Neto is already up and Fletcher was optioned.

Now, he needs to get rid of Thaiss, promote at least a competent defensive catcher for now, and probably make 1 or 2 bullpen moves.

If he does get claimed, it is no real loss anyway.  O'Hoppe is the future, and Quero appears to be on somewhat of a fast track to the majors.  Stassi is good enough to be O'Hoppe's backup when his situation resolves.  Wallach can probably be good enough to cover us until Stassi returns.

Thaiss has no real place on this team, and it is quite frankly just time to move on from him.

Going to get flamed for this but I think they should just trade Ohtani, Trout, DFA guys like Tepera and Loup and just burn this thing down. As long as they have high priced guys there will be playoff hopes/expectations. (Didn’t mention Rendon because you can’t trade him you’re just stuck until his contracts up)

Where have they gotten in a decade with Trout?  Build the minors up, lose 90 games for a couple of years if that’s what it takes.  Be good or be really bad - mediocrity doesn’t pay off.  Blow it up and try to become the Rays (or the ‘02 Angels).

Couple years ago I told him I’d get him condoms no questions asked.  He asked me if I had condoms and I said I did, not mentioning their age.  He got upset that a man in his 60s had condoms, and told my ex-wife on me.

Because, um, that one time in 2006 Kike Hernandez hit a bloop single against him and you don't want to risk that with known ace Ryan Tepera waiting in the bullpen

I don't like Loup much but he can be useful in the right role in this pen as your 4th/5th arm. I think Tepera is pretty much cooked and wouldn't be surprised if the team just DFA him at some point within these first couple months
