Dodgers got smacked by the Jays today, pushed us 4 back of the jays. Hopefully Rangers, Red Sox, and Yankees can lose.

 

mariners have a lot of fight In them, I hate that team but they do not give up. Won today 8-7 after a thrilling win yesterday. Could easily have fallen out of the race but .5 game behind the angels with Julio heating up.

Dude will never go down as anything special as a player..  But if anyone in MLB personifies Tanner Boyle's willingness to fight an entire team by himself it's him.  Guy is such a throwback player in so many ways.

Blake Snell currently leads the majors in ERA at 2.50. 

His last 13 starts, he's got a 0.45 ERA in 74 innings with 104 strikeouts and 41 walks (1.12 WHIP, 13.1 K/9 and 5.0 BB/9).  What a wild stretch, don't know if that's luck or skill.

Something weird: In 2019, Cody Bellinger and Christian Yelich were the two best players in the NL, finishing 1-2 in MVP voting. Both struggled in 2020, 21 and 22, and it seemed like Yelich (4.4 WAR in 2020-22) had collapsed and Bellinger (2.2 WAR in 2020-22) was a fluke. But both are resurging this year:

Yelich: .286/.372/.477, 3.6 fWAR

Bellinger: .315/.366/.536, 2.9 fWAR

Players have off years, but three years in a row and then resurgent at the same time? A strange coincidence.

Lucas Giolito and Reynaldo López no comments about them resigning with the Angels next year. They would be helpful for next years team especially if Ohtani does not sign.

jason stark made an interesting comment on the MLB network during their trade deadline coverage. the conversation was about seattle and what was dipoto doing by trading away their closer. stark said that dipoto was not selling or buying, he just liked to make deals. 

thought that was an interesting perspective.

I know this is his probably his “all out” in order to preserve himself these days but my goodness Giancarlo Stanton might be the slowest person in the history of sports.
