I just realized that Loup has given up 13 unearned runs in under 60 innings.  That's crazy.  (And, no, I don't mean he has allowed 13 inherited runs to score.  He has given up 38 runs this year and only 25 are earned).

Sandoval is certainly a hard luck pitcher.

His bullpen does him no favors at all.

Was just gonna say, he misses another W on a well pitched game. 

I hope we don't have to see some of these bullpen arms next season, they really beat themselves by walking guys.

Usually when a reliever isn't used in an obvious spot, the reliever wasn't available for whatever reason.

The A's had 4 right handed batter's due to start the 9th inning tonight (Clement, Bride, Garcia, and Murphy), yet Tepera wasn't used.

 

So can you confirm with Nevin that Tepera was unavailable?

And a follow-up: if Tepera was unavailable, why wasn't he available?

He had yesterday off after only throwing 11 pitches the previous day. And before that, he had a day off after throwing 3 pitches the prior day.

No Gubi, WE usually pop that up. WE DO. Because we have a team who lacks fundamental skills to get a bunt down when we need it most. What you just saw is a ballplayer that knows how to accomplish a simple sac bunt. Must be nice!

Yes. You have a guy on second with no outs. Mike Trout knows how to bunt. The only thing that matters is getting that run home. Look what the A's just did. Extra Innings favors the home team. Right now the game might be tied but instead, the Angels lost.

The seasons over, no reason to keep torturing everyone in extra innings, why prolong the inevitable.

Kind of hard to point at all the specifics, as so many things about tonight were a collective illustration of why this team almost lost 90 games this season. No reason for them to lose this game, but they figured out a way to do it anyway.

Well, Sandoval pitched like a winner in his last outing. Hopefully next season he will have better defense behind him and a bullpen with fewer fuck ups.

Tepera was unavailable. He’s been unavailable a few times this year with various aches and pains. This time Nevin would only say that he was unavailable.

Keep him in the middle innings, occasional 7th inning use, next season.

Great 6 innings from Sandoval, first time since the 1980s that two starters pitched at least close to 150 innings with sub 3.00 ERAs?

Ohtanisan 18 game hitting streak!

Never, eeeever play Rengifo at 3B again!!!   He becomes Rengaffeo there.    Stick to MIF!
