I think this is true. But I think the lack of interest was mutual and understandable. They are selling the team, so this isn’t really the time to do a long term deal for either side.

I think it's time we start talking about the positives associated with letting Ohtani walk... Those would be, he's gona suck if he gets signed long term, and the current budget means we won't be able to sign any other players to fill out the team...

The players halos have signed have not done well. So, it would be a positive to not have money to spend.

How well have halos done on finding right guy? Flushing money down the toilet is never a good idea. Build from within, Rengifo, Ward, Soto, O' Hoppe, Adell, Sandoval, Detmers, Suarez, Quidaja, Herget, Wantz, Barria plus others in minors. Tampa does not spend big money and they seem to do very well.

The point is they need to find the right guys. They certainly aren’t all on this roster already and they aren’t going to be waiver wire pickups.

I believe building from within works better than throwing money around. I also feel Angels are getting close. This year young pitchers have developed with more to come from minors. Ward and Rengifo this year and I feel Adell only 23 not far behind. Health of Rendon and Trout is key in 2023.

I agree with most of this but would add spend money on retaining your own guys who haven proven to be productive cornerstone players.

I agree be like ATL sign young players to extensions. Angels have some they can do that with now.

Artie payed up because it is easier to sell a team with Ohtani on the roster for at least one more year.

It could make sense if they traded him to the mets and then the mets wanted to trade him back to the Angels.
