How do you see the rest of the season playing out?

Recommended Posts

I take it one game at a time ... enjoy each and every game for what it is. How the season plays out is up to the baseball gods. Doesn't look to good at the moment.

This.  It's OGAAT.  Hope the Angels win on that day, and if they don't move on to the next game.

I maintain my view that the team will get hot for an extended period of time at some point, but it will be too little, (far) too late. I expect 80-85 wins.

The question is whether they get hot before or after the deadline. If it is before than Dipoto might be tempted to bring in another starter through trade. If after, a few parts might have been sold off.

. How does a no trade clause work with waivers?

http://www.bizofbaseball.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=667&Itemid=75

"A player with a no-trade clause who is claimed on Major League waivers must be pulled back if the player’s no-trade clause allows him to block a deal to the claiming club. However, the player may waive the no-trade clause and join the claiming club."

Some wins a lot of boring baseball and lots more losses. Hopefully trading off veterans who could give us some minor league depth and lower our payroll for the next couple years like Downs, Wilson, Weaver, Callaspo, Howie, Aybar, Vargas and Iannetta start the rebuild with Bourjos Trout and Trumbo at the Helm. Heck try to trade our waste of space Hamilton and Mike S for Kemp's crappy ass lol would be funny.

I wonder how many people here know about NO TRADE Clauses.

I am willing to bet Wilson and Weaver has them.

Downs probably will go, Vargas if healthy.  I don't anybody would want Callaspo and Howie  and Aybar has no replacements so I doubt we give them up.

Angels go on a nice run for the rest of June and July and claw back into the race. Maybe a nice 12 game win streak and lose just 5 games from here until the trade deadline. Arte and Dipoto decide the team is contender and trade Cowart and Lindsey for a pitcher. The team crashes back to reality in September and finishes 5 games out of the playoffs and 3rd in the division again. In the offseason the front office sees that we were only 5 games back and that means we're one FA and a few bullpen guys away from contention. We sign the best SP on the market and lose our first round pick again.

Yep, it's become a rinse/repeat cycle, and not a good one.

I would do the following this year:

Give Conger the everyday C job.

Move Richards back to starting

Trade Downs at the ASB

Hope you can get Vargas back in time to trade him

Maybe the same for Madesn although it's doubtful he sees the field this year

DL Pujols and get him his surgery.

Bring up Calhoun and let him play everyday.

Pray that Blanton continues to do well and trade him to anyone that will take him.

You've got to see if Calhoun and Conger can be everyday players and if Richards can cut it as a starter.  It gives you more flexibility in the offseason if they can.  If they can't, you are no worse for wear.

Blanton is gonna pull a Jeff Weaver on us. He will suck, we will trade him, and he will then pitch the clinching game in the World Series for the team he gets traded to.
