How sweet would it be if we traded Ohtani to SD

We could see the Dodgers get beat (hopefully), he would stay out of the AL which would be much less painful

They have a lot of great prospects.   Its not a douchey team like NYY, BOS, LAD

How sweet would it be if we retained him and we actually made the playoffs soon? Fuck the Padres

Dipoto has been the Mariners GM playing the trade game for 7 years.

They decided to “re-rebuild” going into 2019 after their contending 2018 season.

“When Mariners general manager Jerry Dipoto met with team officials in August 2018 to have preliminary talks about the upcoming offseason and the 2019 campaign, he broached the subject of a “step back,” the selling of many of the team’s top assets for younger, controllable players to build around.

It wasn’t the first time this idea had crossed Dipoto’s mind. Even as these talks took place late in the 2018 season, one that would see the Mariners win 89 games, the GM knew this conversation, and a potentially seismic shift in philosophy that would follow, was eventually coming.

When he interviewed with the Mariners in September 2015, Dipoto candidly told management that a step back or rebuild would eventually be in order. And as the final days of the 2018 season ticked away, Dipoto was certain this was the time to make such a move.”

Seems like they made the right choice. They got out of some bloated contracts and got pieces back that's a big reason why currently they have the  2nd WC spot 2 games back of the 1st WC spot.  Huge favorite for ROY in Rodriguez and they have one of the younger MLB rosters and have plenty of money to spend this offseason to shore up.  Things are looking very nice for Dipoto as much as I hate the guy for what he did to the Angels.
