Sure, the offense sucks - we know this. But he's still a professional and a star. He's got no one to blame but himself - he pitched a terrible inning which essentially put the game out of reach.

This game was pretty much the Angels season in a nutshell. The 24-13 start...Ohtani's first five innings. Then 3-4, so they look a bit wobbly but still good overall at 27-17...Ohtani's six inning. And then the 14-game losing streak...Ohtani's 7th inning.

The point being, if you're that bad even for a short period, it doesn't matter how good you were for the first 85% of the game (or season). The Angels were 27-17, then 27-31.

Ohtani's ERA just went up more than half a run in one-third of an inning.

This team had almost a week off and if anything has changed, it's that they now physically look like they've given up.
