So if it is Marsh and Syndergaard, what would that bring us back?  Who do they have that fits our needs?  Would it be someone like Alex Bohm?  Or do they have a catcher?

Bryce Harper.

Just to PO Lou.

This is a great deal for both teams.
Nats were not going to sign Soto and got an absolute haul, Hosmer aside, but i guess you still need to field a team after all 🙂
This is what makes the hot stove great.

Im sitting here imagining the haul we could get if we were actually smart enough to take advantage, we could legit do the bulk of a rebuild in one trade.  We have the golden ticket in the perfect time and place.  But were just not that smart as an organization.

Hosmer was really the guy they brought to San Diego to show the fans they were serious about putting together a real contender, and now he is the guy getting shoved out the door when they are on the brink.

He's getting paid well.  He has a ring.  I don't feel bad for him.

The prospects involved in the Soto trade:

CJ Abrams 60 FV (#11 overall)

Robert Hassell 50 FV (#41 overall)

James Wood 50 FV (#66 overall)

MacKenzie Gore was 50 FV (would be top 100)

Jarlin Susana 40+ FV

So basically four top 100 prospects, one of whom is basically top 10.

As I said before, this represents the upper limit to an Ohtani trade. Note that the Padres also unloaded Eric Hosmer, who is due 3/$39M in 2023-25, plus another $7M or so this year, and got Josh Bell, who is a free agent after this year.
