Too soon to say that. Mariners might just be this bad. Still, team desperately needed a series like this after how much they've been struggling for weeks

Obviously too early to say, but I feel hopeful. Regardless of how bad the Mariners are, it’s nice to see some improvement across the board (hitting, SP, defense, young BP arms).

We will cede our argument based upon millions of all time plate appearances to your gut feeling blarg!

You mean every crappy team that didn't have three players that could hit put in whatever order the manager felt like that day? Like putting Rengifo as the cleanup hitter, that really makes your argument work, somehow?

Moving Ohtani in front of Trout may afford him better pitches to select from than having Walsh or Duffy hitting behind him. It could give him a better chance of getting into a grove instead of floundering where he is at. Trout will never have a better hitter behind him to force pitchers to give him something to work with and yet he still excels because he is the superior hitter.

Yes, we disagree.

You are having an argument with yourself.

That's a different discussion. I thought you were thinking of moving him down. We've seen Ohtani hit better with Trout behind him, but it's a question of how much that could positively influence his performance vs how much it negatively impacts Trout's influence on the lineup. Trout is already giving that benefit to Ward, who is a breakout star this season, so it's hard to know if redistributing that benefit to Ohtani would be a net positive.

Trout batting third is a bad idea though.
