No you don't.  Not one little bit.

Thousands of people are at this event, photographers, media, other members of industry and Jada has to deal with the stares and awkward responses of her condition and no amount of talking it down makes the pain of it go away.

This is not where the MC of the event is to make it even harder with a thoughtless joke which encourages the entire audience to laugh at her. That exposes her to everyone watching that losing her hair is something to laugh at. It was cruel on the stage it was presented on.

The event itself is to celebrate and not denigrate the members.

Hosts make jokes about guests all the time. SHE announced to the world her condition.

Smith is a bitch.

"So upsetting - on every level - bravo to Chris Rock - for not eviscerating will smith - which he could do any day of the week - he walked away - bravo from a sad display of toxic masculinity from a narcissistic madman," noted Rosie O’Donnell.

"So it wasn’t staged and Chris Rock could press charges against Will Smith and probably sue his dumb a--! Wow! So surreal!" added Tommy Chong.

"Let me tell you something, it’s a very bad practice to walk up on stage and physically assault a Comedian," Kathy Griffin explained. "Now we all have to worry about who wants to be the next Will Smith in comedy clubs and theaters."

Let’s pretend that the joke was truly offensive and meant to upset Jada. I’d be OK with Smith addressing Rock about it, backstage and off camera. In no scenario was it ok for him to go on stage, during a nationally televised program and hit him.

Exactly.

Imagine the change of tune if Jada had slapped him instead. Then there would be a plethora of women jumping to her side and the men like Rosie O'Donnell following suit.

What the fuck is going on here?

Everyone having a good time with a weird/awkward moment on national tv and Blarg wants to get all righteous and have a serious take on a comedians dumb throw away joke. Get the fuck out here with that context nonsense. I stopped reading when you went down the "targeted" line of thought as if comedians need to do background checks on everyone in the building before telling jokes.

I thought you were Republican? When did you become a pussy?

Clearly real men slap other grown men on awards shows.  There was nothing manly about what Will Smith did when he hiked up his skirt to go on stage and slap Chris Rock.  If he had an issue with it he should have taken it up with him after.  If he's so concerned about people commenting on him and his family perhaps he and his wife could stop oversharing every little detail about their marriage and their kids with the public.
