I just finished watching Bored to Death on HBO. 

 

Schwartzman and especially Ted Danson were great. Zach Galifanakis was a little annoying. Overall I really liked the show. They had some absolute gems that they just subtly worked in there.

watched the first part of Elf during our lunch recess today. it's raining and the kids can't use the playground, so i fired up the ol' VCR and threw in a Christmas movie. kids always like stuff like this.

The Big Short. I really liked it. Explains the mortgage collapse in terms that allows the average person to understand. Christian Bale is terrific and so is Steve Carell.

I loved this movie. I left the theater pissed at the banks (again) for foisting this horseshit upon the American economy. The Jenga example was pretty good and Anthony Bourdain's "fish stew" was even better.

we have one that is walking distance from our campus. otherwise, i can't fit all 96 of them into my car. it gets a little crowded and the boys keep farting. it's kind of like attending an angels game with nando.

A Serious Man is one the Coen Brothers most underrated movies, in my opinion. Michael Stuhlbarg is a great actor. Just watched him in Steve Jobs and he was terrific, as usual.

on the "making a murderer" front (I'm only through episode one):

the documentary folks clearly have a bias, and that's ok.

but it would be interesting to see them (or another documentary team) make one trying to angle things to be pro police/DA.
