Angels select Barraclough and Wallach, option Diaz, place Suzuki on IL (Covid)

Barraclough and Wallach are guys who we can add to the 40-man and subsequently DFA when necessary.  I suspect part of this is because the number of times we can option/recall players is now capped with the new CBA.

So - those two are added, then when Suzuki and Duffy are ready to return, they can both be DFA'd (and likely outrighted to AAA when no one signs them).

At least the Angels won that game that Kurt played 1st base in

Yeah, it was an awesome game. I was only able to catch the tail end of it when Suzuki was playing 1B…I was thoroughly confused.

Kurt pinch hit (walked for the bases loaded) for Rojas in the top of the 9th before Stassi struck out to end the inning.

Kurt then played 1st for both the 9th and 10th innings.

YES awesome game, followed it on my phone while at my Grandsons soccer practice. Must have been a few other Angels fans at that practice since when the Angels scored, there was a bit of noise amongst the soccer crowd.

One of the biggest moves of the season. Wallach just put Suzuki into retirement

I posted this on another thread, but - how good is Wallach defensively?  Is he an excellent game caller?  I'm curious as to how much of last night's no hitter we can ascribe to Wallach's game calling.

I wasn’t paying attention early in the game but Detmers did shake off Wallach several times towards the end.

I think that was more about Detmers than it was about Wallach.

In any case I liked what I saw from Wallach last night behind the plate and with the bat.

So maybe we sholuld ask - how good of a catcher is Chad Wallach?  He has now started 3 games, one of which was a no-hitter and another a shutout by a rookie pitcher.  Is Wallach an excellent game caller / pitcher handler?

His CERA makes Jeff Mathis blush.

I think I’ve seen enough to say bye bye to Suzuki
