If we had a bunch of guys performing above their career norms, I'd definitely be less confident. However, other than Ward, I don't think any of the hitters are performing way above expectations. In fact, other than Trout & Marsh, everyone else is below where I expect them to end up.

Pitching wise they were 18th in team ERA going into today's game. So, it's not like they've been lights out across the board. Barring a rash of injuries, I still expect them to finish the year higher than 18th.

However, they were 5th in WHIP. Maybe even 2nd, or 3rd, after tonight's game. That is a surprise, but runs given up is what decides who wins any given game, not how many hits & walks were allowed.

The thing is, we might actually be.... april, early and all that.

But we've been closer the last few years than I think anyone realizes. 

Yeah, we've had poor rosters, poor pitching etc, but a lot of it has been bad luck.

Barring major injury, I think this team is going to surprise a lot of haters.

Ohtani/Syndegaard/Sandoval is a pretty decent rotation. The pen should be a plus, and the lineup is one of the better ones. No reason everyone shouldnt be optimistic.
