Mookie Betts is being placed on the injured list with a cracked rib, manager Dave Roberts announced Saturday.

There's no immediate timetable for his return. The Dodgers are still determining the extent of the break, which will determine how soon he'll be back, Roberts said, according to Matthew Moreno of Dodger Blue 1958.

"A week from now, we'll know more and have a better idea," Roberts said, according to J.P. Hoornstra of the Orange County Register.

It is weird what happened to Bellinger - after his breakout MVP season in 2019 he just collapsed, hitting .201/.279/.375 with a 80 wRC+ and 1.6 WAR in 210 games since.

Similarly with Yelich, who after his second in a row MVP-caliber season in 2019, has hit .236/.350/.389 with 103 wC+ and 2.7 WAR in 239 games since.

It reminds me of when Andrew McCutchen went from being the NL's lesser--but still great--version of Trout in 2012-15, to a solid regular for a few years, to a scrub. But McCutchen's decline--while still steep--had clear step-downs to it. Bellinger and Yelich just completely lost it, and Bellinger at a much younger age - he's still just 26.

So are you saying Bellinger and Yelich aren't the next Trout?
