It is rather interesting. Ironically, the psychiatric name for this behavior (in some cases, not all) is actually called Peter Pan Syndrome. There is generally a direct or multitude of psychological behavioral components that could be possible.....unresolved childhood trauma, lack of seeing happy adults, fearing of growing old, etc. Reminds me of these adults that dress up for Comic Con or go all out dressing up for sporting events (like the Raiders fans that have a section called The Black Hole). I actually met one of these guys at a Chiefs game and also here in OC at a place that was the OC get together for Patriots football games, it was sad. You can tell the dude and the chick carried their whole identity as this persona. Similar to Tad that was here on the board.

What sparked an interest from a psychological perspective was I dated this lady a little over 10 years ago for quite some time. She had a masters in psychology and was working towards her doctorate in the field. Her grandfather and uncle lived in Florida. The uncle was an adult male in his mid to late 40's at the time, but lived at home with his father (her grandfather) and worked full time at Disney World there in FL. But the guy had some sort of psychological issues or disorder as he loved Disney and she said he even had Disney bedding and posters on his wall in his room. The crazy thing was they came out to visit and spend a week out here. The dude seemed normal when I met him, no real signs of any social disorder such as Aspergers. He was able to have normal conversations, but was fixated on the trip here and being able to go to Disneyland.....mind you, he works full time at Disney World. I remember we all went to Disneyland and the dude was leading the charge on where to go and how we all should spend our time there as a group.....even had his own mental map of all the rides he wanted to go on and places he wanted to visit. We had to cut the day short because it was ridiculously hot that day and he was a bit upset that we didn't get to do everything on his list....full functional adult.

Some of the examples or people that wrote in or told their story in the video resemble more of your family, but with an odd twist. One of the guys went many times a year and spend a large amount of money, dressing up as Disney characters, etc. but seemed pretty normal and gave a decent synopsis of his behavior as nostalgia, etc. but then you look into it and the dude was a little off mentally.

Now do one about people who wear masks while driving alone in their car.

All I did was post a funny video from a comedian regarding the topic. No one is obsessed nor cares what others do or don't do. However, you and the nerd mob with indirect (or in Taylor's case) direct posts being defensive regarding your Peter Pan syndrome is rather telling.

You then posted an entire manifesto. Don't forget about that.

I was replying to someone, Jason, that was replying to me on the subject/topic.

I also don't think you understand what a manifesto is.

man·i·fes·to
/ˌmanəˈfestō/

noun
  1. a public declaration of policy and aims, especially one issued before an election by a political party or candidate.

I don't think you understand what hyperbole is.

I have a Six Flags membership. Let's me go to all Six Flags parks in the USA. It's 8 bucks a month. I've been to Discovery Kingdom up north and it's a blast. Going to MM next week to ride Wonder Woman and then driving cross country to visit family in North Carolina and will go to Six Flags over Georgia weather permitting for the first time since it's along the way. Went to Six Flags over Texas last time I drove cross country. I've also been to Great Adventure a couple of times in New Jersey. I am a big thrill ride guy. Love all the roller coasters but I am occasionally too tall to go on some of them which sucks.

I haven't read through this thread but I will buy a Universal pass next year when Super Nintendo Land opens. I used to have a Disneyland pass but it's way too expensive now. I did go there last year when they had the 3 park deal. First time in 15 years. I was blown away by Galaxy's Edge and especially Rise of the Resistance. Cars land was really cool but I am bummed they changed Soarin over California and got rid of Aladdin and Muppets and am indifferent about the new entrance. Twilight Zone being gone is a bummer but GOTG was cool. Marvel area was cool too. I haven't been to Knotts in a very long time.

Yeah I'm definitely more of a roller coaster guy so I have that $8 / month pass for Six Flags. I think it gives you free parking as well? Magic Mountain, Discovery Kingdom, Over Texas, Great Adventure are the best ones for roller coasters, even though the quality of Six Flags has really declined over the past decade or so. I need to go back to Great Adventure, because Kingda Ka is now pretty much the only hydraulic launch coaster in the country that goes 120+ MPH at that ridiculous acceleration. Dragster is getting retrofitted so it won't be nearly as quick of a launch, and Xcelerator at Knott's has been down for over a year now (this one only goes 80+ MPH).

I had a Disneyland pass with the girl years ago right when they opened Cars Land and that was actually worth it because it was right before the parks jumped the prices way up, and started getting ridiculously crowded like it is now. I think it was $100 down then $42/month for 12 months, but there were no blackout days and we got free parking. It was nice to just go for a couple hours and get some dinner and go on a few rides for a date night, we probably went 2 or 3 times a month.

My friends practically forced me to go to Disneyland/CA Adventure during the end of September and while it was still too busy, I actually had a pretty good time. Beers at CA Adventure helped. Didn't think I'd like the re-do for the Tower of Terror to Guardians ride but it was pretty fun, and Space Mountain is pretty good. I think the best part of Rise of the Resistance was just the massive scope of the entire ride, like that room with 50 Stormtroopers was bad ass. They try to take good care of the park like they used to, but it's just not the same and I can't see myself ever wanting a pass there again.

Bringing this classic back almost feels like compensation for turning Splash into Tiana's

Splash Mountain is my favorite ride, but it's way overdue for an upgrade.

I was disappointed when Tower of Terror was being changed into a Guardians of the Galaxy ride, but then I rode the new version and like it better.

I'll have to wait and see what the Tiana ride is like before making an opinion.

Is your favorite movie Song of the South or are you being a baby for no reason? How many times have you seen it? Is it remotely relevant to any single human in 2022 (and beyond) that steps foot into one of its logs? Who really gives a shit?

Also, the disrespect for Tarzan is noted. Just kidding: nobody gives a shit about Tarzan either.
