Well played by Angels to keep him on the restricted list. Ty was a reliever I had decent hopes on at one point. Hopefully he can assist the pen this season.

and there's really no downside for the Halos on this btw.  Potentially nice back end pen arm for nothing.   Still has options.  If he sucks then he can figure it out in the minors or quit again. No skin off the Angel's teeth.

after being away from the game for a year (and having no idea what kind of baseball stuff he's been doing in that time, if any), i'm going to figure he'll be in AAA at best to start the season, especially if this lockout continues.

This is actually good news. There's no guarantee that he can re-capture his 2018-19 form, but there's also no reason to think he won't. All of a sudden he gives the Angels another solid veteran option, behind their top 3.
