Given the environment in Tri-City, I've wondered if they'll start skipping prospects over High-A.

The only hitting prospect to really do that so far was Jeremiah Jackson. But it sucks they're trapped in a 10 year agreement with a team that plays in a horrible park.

Does anyone know why Quero hasn't been promoted yet this season?

He's obliterated Single-A pitching for two-thirds of the season, yet still hasn't been promoted.

I'm guessing the reasons are defense related? He is only 19, but he has nothing left to prove offensively at Single-A.

No clue dude but its not uncommon or rather it wasn't uncommon for teams to match a catcher with a block of SPs in order to see how he works with them or to build continuity.  That part of a catchers development is extremely meaningful.  It's also likely why they put IHOP (yeah not gonna always type out his real name), in AA then moved Silseth down.  Getting him to work with that batch of pitchers is going to make their transition to MLB all the easier.

There is a lot of crap I going on I don't get right now but, I'd like to believe the Quero and especially IHOP situation hints to the Halos having a developmental plan.

Also, I think it's important to keep in mind, his numbers may be inflated because of the hitting environment. Inland Empire plays pretty honest but the rest of the Cal League is hitter friendly, always had been. He's hitting .345 on the road with 7 bombs compared to .278 and 4 HR at home, though to be fair he still has a .394 OBP at home which is ridiculous for a 19 year old. Still, it's a pretty stark difference. So I wouldn't say he's dominating. He's just performing well.

Cal League isn't hitter friendly anymore, it had been moving away from that after Lancaster and High Desert shut down but these days it's pretty much a pitcher's league.

I know you're up in NoCal, so maybe you've been to Stockton and can shed light on that place.  Overall neutral but an insane HR index  Imagine trying to get a feel for guys in a place that wild.

Rocket City is like that too -- overall it's pretty middle of the road but the ball flies out of there...

This is the league that really really trips me out..

The new PCL is nowhere near as hitter friendly as it used to be.  Dunno if it's the balls or what, but the environment isn't as nuts as it used to be.

I think the org may have erred in making Tri-City their High-A affiliate.  The climate for baseball here in the I.E. is much more suited for baseball, and in being so close to Anaheim, much easier to evaluate & rehab players.

It’s the league unfortunately. Cal League is low A. Dodgers have Rancho down the 210 also. Would be really convenient though.

I wonder if maybe this plays a factor is stockpiling some of the better prospects there? Or, at least, the higher upside young guys? It’s an hour’s drive to send a scout or FO person to check them out. Maybe they’re keeping a really close eye on Quero with scouts and even some FO people. And since RCT is so far, you let that team develop somewhat independently in a way—far away from the big league club.

Sending Neto to Tri City makes sense in some ways. Not only the SS’s at A and AA, but I hope it’s an organizational change in a sense: let prospects struggle and help them through it. Instead of making things easy at each level or promoting at the first sign of a hot streak. If he hits right away, great. If he struggles and works through it…even better?

Not sure they had a choice.  MLB pretty much handled the classifications.   They may have been able to try to get a deal done with Eugene or one of the other teams that lost their former affiliation but the level itself was out of their hands, at least according to what BBA wrote about how it was going to be handled.

I miss Lancaster. Batting practice was fun. I've actually played on Stockton's field before, and Lake Elsinore too. Stockton is never in the middle. The climate interchanges between coastal with heavier air and dry at 100 degrees. When it's the latter, it's HR derby. Lake Elsinore seemed pretty normal.

I think the largest difference is the balls. 2019, balls were flying and everyone knew MLB and MiLB we're doing some shady stuff to be increase offense. They've since changed the balls back. They're still live, much more so than what you see in high school and college, but they aren't flying out like golf balls anymore either.

Scraping away the high desert stadiums reduced the launching pad effect with the altitude and heat. No marine layer in Victorville and Lancaster areas. I've still got to go to the Ports, Nuts and Giants stadium to complete all of the PCL, now Low-A stadiums.

I liked them better as High-A where the talent was filtered a bit and you had a better idea who was more likely to move on in the system and not just be filler. Sadly I haven't been to but one game this season and that was early on.

I live in San Dimas and we went to a Jets game years back and it was like one of those drives that you are like a kid asking, are we there yet? Seemed like a never ending drive and then I remembered I had two friends that lived out there, one worked in Hollywood, the other in Redondo Beach. Freaking stupid drive time every day.
