Arte was never gonna sign someone with such an individualistic, public streak. There hasn’t been a single Angel - at least one stayed for long - who had any sort of personality good or bad beyond ‘good company man’ type.

If that was the contract, I don't know why the Angels wouldn't have done it.  Win-win.  Short term contract for the team to mitigate risk and AAV is pretty good for a pitcher of Stroman's caliber.  Stroman can enter FA again at 33 and get one more good contract. I would've preferred Stroman over Noah if these were the resulting contracts.

Remaining pivot options include Kershaw and Rodon who could be had at short term deals, but let’s see if Arte will really increase payroll

It's bizarre that he only got three years.  And even more bizarre that the Angels couldn't/wouldn't beat that offer.  MLBTR had him pegged for 5/$110M... and they've been low on most of the estimates so far.  I just do not understand.
