The entire point of looking to acquire guys like Scherzer and Castillo is to contend right now and buy time (2-3 years) for our pitching prospects to develop and manifest and meaningful MLB starters.

There's a reason the Angels drafted 20 starters this past draft, and guys like Reid Detmers, Davis Daniel, Sam Bachman and Ky Bush need that time to fully develop.

You don't use them as trade chips. You use them to help bring payroll back to a controllable level after making an initial larger investment in guys like Scherzer and Castillo.

Lol that’s great and all but if you want a player like

Castillo you’re going to have to part ways on one of those prospects. They’re  not going to tRade him for a Barria, Suarez, or Canning.

i'd like to have castillo, but it's hard for me to believe that trading adell or marsh along with a detmers or bachman is a good idea for the angels presently and in the future. all four of those guys need to be on the team this year, both for their impact on the field and on payroll.

i think the angels need to sign FA's to beef up their roster and possibly make some trades for relievers and/or SS.

“Even after adding Noah Syndergaard, the Angels are still looking to further supplement their pitching staff. In recent days, they’ve been connected in rumors to Steven Matz, before he became a Cardinal, as well as Kevin Gausman, Max Scherzer and Marcus Stroman. But Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic writesthat Robbie Ray “remains atop their wish list.”

You guys all know what’s going to happen.  The sinking feeling.  You know what it is.  The Angels will sign Javier Baez to a personally negotiated by Arte contract and then in March they’ll add a few guys off the scrap heap.  Fin.

Hey JA Happ and Jose Urena could be good you never know haha.

But times 10!

Seems like their goal is to get fucking everyone and fuck the payroll.

Must be nice to have an owner like thOk I'm starting to sound like AO.

Imagine it with Brad Ausmus as the manager......

Pretty good deal for both, all things considered.

It makes sense. 14 million per year. If he's on the field a full season, he's worth 25 million a year. But he's shown continually throughout his career that 90-100 games is likely what you'll get.

It pays him fairly for what he provides.

Some years, he'll have it all together and get in 140 games and will be with nearly double their investment. Other years, he may only play 30 and won't be worth even half the investment.
